Their life

Reza Monji Azad was a goalkeeper from Rasht, in Gilan province, and the father of an infant daughter.

He was shot near Sabzeh Meydan in Rasht on 8 January 2026, during the crackdown on protests in the city. Witnesses said that security forces removed him from hospital while he was still bleeding, before he could be treated. His body was found the following day inside a shipping container at the Bagh-e Rezvan cemetery in Rasht. Reporting describes significant traces of blood in the container, indicating that he bled to death after being denied medical care.

Grave · Rasht, Gilan province (approx.)

Reza Monji Azad's body was found inside a shipping container at this cemetery on 9 January 2026, the day after he was shot. Bagh-e Rezvan is the principal cemetery of Rasht. The point shown is the city of Rasht, not the cemetery grounds or a plot within them; no public source records the burial location more precisely. Note that other Iranian cities, including Isfahan and Urmia, have cemeteries of the same name.

Burial places are shown only at reduced precision. Families of those killed have been surveilled, summoned, and harassed at gravesides, and several were compelled to bury their dead at night or in another city. The circle on the map marks an area, never a plot.

Narratives & testimony

  • Taken from the hospital while still bleeding

Witnesses said that after Reza Monji Azad was shot near Sabzeh Meydan, security forces took him from the hospital while he was still bleeding and before he could be treated. His body was found the next day in a shipping container at the Bagh-e Rezvan cemetery in Rasht, amid significant traces of blood — indicating he had bled to death rather than been killed outright. He left an infant daughter. Reported by Josimar, "Silent slaughter", 5 March 2026.
